Union City Community Center

The Union City Community Center includes the renovation of the existing historic school building, as well as an addition of a new gymnasium and connector annex wing to connect the two.  The enclosed gymnasium features a high school regulation-sized wood floor basketball court and retractable bleacher seating.

Renovations to the existing school incorporate the addition of a 140-seat auditorium with a small stage area, a conference center and lounge area, activity room, multipurpose rooms, instructional classrooms, food preparation and serving area, and dining space.

In addition, there is a small business entrepreneurship room where those interested in wanting to start a business in the city can seek assistance.  Mayor Williams led the charge and was on the city council in 2009 when the then-mayor and council came up with the idea for the center, located on Bryant Street.

Union City Community Gathering Place won First Place Award with Associated General Contractors of Georgia, Inc. (ACG Georgia) Build Georgia Awards – 2019
