Dallas Police Department, Courthouse, and Arts Center
This project involved the renovation of an existing police headquarters building in downtown Dallas and the conversion of an adjacent 1950s bank building into a municipal courthouse and arts center.
The interior of the police headquarters was completely updated, and security concerns addressed in the repartitioning of the front receiving area, creating a separate entrance vestibule and transaction window.
The plaster on the façade of the adjoining bank building was removed to reveal its original natural stone surface. An opening was made in the shared wall to provide a direct connection between the two buildings, with law enforcement and judicial functions separated by a corridor that doubles as an art exhibition space.
